At the Victim Rights Law Firm, we are especially sensitive to the needs of child victims and their families. We have tremendous experience working with children and understand their special needs. As prosecutors, we received specialized training in how to work with child victims. The way they experience trauma, cope with pain, and recall hurtful memories is very different from adults. Not to mention, violent and sexual trauma can cause children to suffer long term developmental harm. Our goal is to not only seek justice for your child, but to see you put in a place where you can afford to pay for their wellness and healthcare needs without restriction. Our trial team has over 20 years of experience fighting for children and working with families of child victims (we can't forget how victimization hurts families too). We have successfully prosecuted coaches, clergy, teachers, custodians, sex traffickers, and many other people who harm children. We have seen it all and are ready to fight for your child today.
Men are the invisible victims of sexual assault. Read that again - men are the invisible victims of sexual assault. They are least likely to report it, least likely to seek help, and most likely to engage in self-harm or other destructive coping mechanisms such as drugs and alcohol. When people hear of rape, they typically think of a woman or child as the victim. They never think that a big, strong, muscular man can be a victim too - but they can be and they are more often than you think. At the Victim Rights Law Firm, we are very sensitive to the unique needs of male victims. We know how hard it is to talk about it and how uncomfortable it feels to even think of what happened. Most men prefer to bottle it up, keep it to themselves, and forget about it. These are very sensitive cases. While we are here to help with your legal options, we begin by listening. We go at your pace and will only discuss the things you wish to tell us about. Typically on first calls we speak in generalities so that the client can get a feel for us and what seeking legal help entails. There is never any pressure and everything we discuss is protected by the attorney-client privilege, even if you never hire us. We are simply here to help.
Power structure is a common theme in sexual assault and violent crime litigation. Many offenders are opportunistic in nature and target certain victims due to a perceived or actual imbalance of power. For instance, a caretaker has tremendous power over the person that depends on them for day to day care. Such power imbalances are even greater and more pronounced when the victim is disabled, disadvantaged or elderly. Put simply, many sex offenders take advantage of people that lack the means to adequately resist an assault or resist being groomed. There are also other types of sex offenders who specifically target the elderly due to the nature of the offender's mental illness. Regardless of the reason, our legal team is especially keen on standing up for people who cannot stand up for themselves. In many cases, the sex offender is someone close to the victim and might even be someone sent to help the victim, such as a home health aid. Many of these cases also originate from group homes, assisted living facilities, and rehab centers - which can create tremendous liability for the corporations that own those entities and employ their staff.
Just because a victim may be a sex worker, does not mean he or she is not equally protected by our nation's sex laws. Sexual assault is still illegal. Paying a fee to a sex worker does not change that. A customer is not entitled to violate the worker just because they paid a fee for sex. Equally, accepting a fee in exchange for sex does not act as a waiver of your right to not be violated (so obvious). Boundaries still exist and are legally enforceable under the law. In most jurisdictions prostitution is a minor offense (a misdemeanor) like possessing marijuana or trespassing without warning. By comparison, rape is a life felony. The Victim Rights Law Firm fights for victimized sex workers. Under the laws of the United States of America we are all equal and entitled to the same protections. Customers that ignore boundaries of consent and go too far, those who ignore instructions to stop or worse, those who act with violence against a sex worker are all civilly liable to the worker.
Violent crime has only increased over the years. It can include violent robberies, shootings, stabbings, fights, kidnapping, and a variety of other offenses. In such cases, not only is the attacker civilly liable to the victim(s) for damages, but third parties may also be held accountable. For instance, property owners and property managers may be liable if they are guilty of negligent security that enabled the attack. Victims of violent crime may recover compensation for their injuries and sometimes even punitive damages against those who are liable for what happened. Each case is unique even when the injuries are similar. Our attorneys are here to evaluate your individual case and counsel you on your legal options.
Sadly, some of the people we trust most and even look up to can disappoint and prove to be the worst kind of offenders. Today it is not uncommon to hear of another coach, clergy member, teacher, or custodian that was arrested for a sex crime. We are sensitive to the fact that many victims of this class of offenders are minors, the elderly, and disabled people. When such classes of people are victimized, it aggravates the damages. Oftentimes, such victims are groomed and targeted due to an imbalance of power and unsupervised access by the offender. Whatever the case, we are here to help. We are first here to listen. We are also here to answer your questions and explain the law.
Dating violence is a jarring experience for the victim. It can happen on first dates or between people who have been dating for a long time, even years. It can also happen between spouses (spousal assault). Regardless, being married to or dating another person does not act as a waiver to being violated. Dating and marriage are not exceptions to the law. Rape can and often does happen between people who know each other intimately. Whatever the circumstances or duration of your relationship to the offender, we are here to help. We offer both male and female attorneys who have experience as special unit prosecutors in sex crimes and domestic violence units. Their law enforcement training and experience serves as the foundation for the dating violence claims they now prosecute for victims in civil courts. When you are ready, we are here to listen and answer your questions.
Depending on the circumstances of your case, a corporation or third property may be liable for the actions of the offender. For instance, the owner of an apartment complex may be liable to the victim of a sexual assault on its property due to negligent security. A corporation may be liable for employing a dangerous person and a property owner or lessee may be liable for negligently maintaining the premises leading to what happened. Our attorneys analyze the facts and circumstances to determine who may be held accountable and to what extent.
